My Favorite Protein Shake – Yum!

Hearing a lot about protein shakes and smoothies lately?  They can be so delicious and nutritious… and easy!

Today I want to share MY personal favorite protein shake recipe that that I created.  Give it a try, and then play with the ingredients to find your favorite combination.  Frozen fruit would be a delicious adder!

Ashley’s Favorite Protein Shake:

My favorite protein shake starts with Whey Protein from Gold Standard.  Check out all of the flavors available.  I highly recommend the Double Rich Chocolate – of course!  Here’s my recipe:

  • 1 scoop Gold Standard Double Rich Chocolate protein powder (120 cal)
  • 1 cup skim milk (90 cal)
  • 1 banana (100 cal)
  • 2 tbsp Greek yogurt non-fat vanilla (20 cal)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter (100 cal)
  • Couple ice cubes

Mix all of the ingredients in your Oster personal blender and your shake is ready in seconds.

Just a word of caution, tho.  If you do the math, my favorite shake is a whopping 430 calories, and could be more depending on how you modify the recipe.  So, if your goal is to lose weight you must think of this shake as a meal replacement, not a snack.

Remember that if you overeat, you will gain weight.  It doesn’t matter where the extra calories come from.  Weight gain & loss is all about managing total calories.  So even if you drink a healthy protein shake or smoothie, it still contains calories.  And the “good ones” still count!
